Do What You Want, Not What You Are Told
“All humans have powerful needs to be autonomous. Free to behave of their own volition. Rather than to external pressure. People find their work motivating when it satisfies this need. When you combine it with doing something great people will be engaged and love what they do.” -Excerpt from How Google Works
So, hire great people that will do the right thing for the organization and the world and get out of their way. You may need to get obstacles out of their way too. Don't forget...you might be that obstacle.
Freedom and the opportunity to work on something great...awesome.
If you don't have this today go find it. A place where you can change the world and do it with your friends. Doing something that excites you. Something that your grandchildren will be proud of when they hear about what you built, created or stood for. Imagine doing something that you jumped out of bed for each morning and got to do it with your friends. That exists. It might mean you make a few hard decisions/sacrifices. Life is too short to do anything else. We aren't entitled to two minutes from now. Stop making excuses and go do what you want.
